What's new in Gridborg HMP Server 1.4
URL Streaming
We have added a new feature to the player resource so that it is
now possible to use media resources that are behind an HTTP URL.
That way media resources, applications and the Server can be separated.
Media files are cashed on the server for faster operation and server
administrators have the ability to control cashing and access to the
remote media resources.
Configuration options and Logging
It is now possible to fetch Gridborg HMP Server configuration file
from an HTTP URL; control UDP port range for SIP signalization when
working behind a firewall; use SYSLOG for logging under Linux and
switch on/off the fax capability, as well as some minor options that
are added here and there.
Better Session and Server Control
With new commands applications are now able to control other application
sessions and the Server itself from within the Gridborg Protocol. These
features, used with external scripts, enable better server control. Also,
you can inspect license information from within the application.
SIP Early Media
SIP early media enables applications to stream media to the calling endpoint
before the call is established thus generating their own ring tone or better
yet stream music for better user experience. For this no changes have been
made to the Gridborg Protocol so the applications that used the feature with
H.323 protocol will work out of the box with SIP as well.
Various improvements
We have worked hard to improve performance of Gridborg HMP Server on modern
multi-core servers. We improved command and event responsiveness, memory usage
and file access (by memory mapping when using RAW audio files) to name just a few.
Also, thanks to our fax users we have considerably improved fax protocol
implementation by adding better error correction and improving the overall
functionality.
